The CFES was established to encourage the exchange of ideas
among its members and represent the Canadian engineering student
body on a national level. It is a volunteer based organization
made up of students from across the country. The national
executive was first formed in 1991, however the people behind
the organization have been around much longer, with national
engineering competitions dating back 7 years before the executive
formally existed and national conferences dating back 23 years.
Today, the CFES supports 45 undergraduate engineering societies
across Canada representing more than 48 000 students.

Professional Engineers Ontario licenses Ontario's 64,000 professional
engineers, and sets standards for and regulates engineering
practice in the province. It has a statutory mandate under
the Professional Engineers Act to protect the public interest
where engineering is concerned. Rigorously educated, experienced
and committed to a Code of Ethics that puts the public interest
first, licensed professional engineers can be identified by
the P.Eng. after their names.
