On August 6, 2014, the ESSCO Executive Team met with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) at their Toronto office. The PEO is responsible for regulating the practice of professional engineering in Ontario and partners with ESSCO for various events and initiatives throughout the year. Together, we work to help develop leadership and networking skills among engineering students.
The purpose of the meeting was to personally meet and establish a working relationship with representatives from the PEO and Brown & Cohen, with whom we will be working this year, as well as gain insight into the PEO and their activities. One of the major benefits that the PEO provides for students is the Student Membership Program. This free membership keeps undergraduate engineering students informed on the next steps and requirements for applying for their P.Eng licence. Stay tuned for more information about the program on our website or join the mailing list now at: www.engineeringstudents.peo.on.ca/
This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss some of the challenges we face for the upcoming year as well as brainstorm possible solutions to them. The Executive would like to thank the PEO for setting up this meeting, and we look forward to working with them!
