About Us

WHAT IS ESSCO?

The Engineering Student Societies’ Council of Ontario (ESSCO) is an association that represents engineering societies from 18 universities across Ontario, and acts as the link between engineering students and professional associations, academia, and government.

Since its creation in 1987, ESSCO’s goal has been to promote unity, continuity, and visibility among Ontario engineering students.

WHAT DOES ESSCO DO?

ESSCO exists to unify, represent, and empower over 49,000 engineering students across the province. We advocate on behalf of students at a provincial level, support student societies at accredited Ontario engineering schools, and amplify the student voice on issues like education reform, mental health, equity, and professional development.

We envision an Ontario where engineering students are not just graduates, but innovators, advocates, and inclusive leaders shaping the future of society. Through collaboration, education, equity, and opportunity, ESSCO aims to be the driving force that supports, connects, and champions every engineering student in Ontario.

ADVOCACY WORK

ESSCO advocates for sustainability and EDI+ in engineering through our working groups. These groups research and create surveys to gather data on social and sustainability issues in Ontario.

Through these working groups, ESSCO aims to band together arm in arm with engineering schools across Ontario to push for social change and make a better Ontario for all engineering students.
