Advocacy

HOW ESSCO ADVOCATES

ESSCO advocates for sustainability and EDI+ in engineering through our working groups. The selected issues are voted on at the Presidents Meeting plenary by all ESSCO member schools. The selected issues are worked on by the Vice President Advocacy and their team of commissioners.

These groups create surveys to gather data and research current social and sustainability issues in Ontario.

This group is dedicated to exploring and addressing the systemic and cultural factors that influence gender diversity within engineering student leadership across Ontario. By conducting research, facilitating dialogue, and identifying actionable strategies, the group aims to foster more inclusive and representative student leadership environments within engineering faculties.

SUSTAINABILITY

Picture
This group examines the intersection of sustainability and cooperative education within engineering programs in Ontario. The focus is on evaluating current co-op structures and identifying opportunities to integrate sustainability principles into student placements, industry partnerships, and career pathways, supporting a greener and more future-ready engineering workforce.
